The objectives of the 20 hours training program curriculum of both lecture and interactive exchange are to provide jobseekers with the necessary pre-employment skills, empower individuals for success, and to promote job retention/advancement. The curriculum enables workers to not only demonstrate their readiness to successfully enter the workplace but retain and advance in their positions.
Also known as OJT, is teaching the skills, knowledge, and competencies that are needed for employees to perform a specific job within the workplace and work environment. Employees learn in an environment in which they will need to practice the knowledge and skills taught in the on-the-job training.
Interviewing skills are actions candidates take during job interviews that make them stand out. These actions can include proper interview behavior, controlling nervousness or asking intelligent questions. If you have interviewing skills, you will probably receive more job offers than those without them.
Self-Advocacy Training is a service designed to prepare individuals on how to better communicate their strengths, abilities, interest, and needs when interviewing with potential employers or applying to trade schools, colleges, or universities. Students who participate in this service learn how to represent themselves and make decisions that affect their lives. Throughout the training, students learn skills that increase confidence and self-esteem while helping them develop a sense of independence and self-empowerment.
Traditional mentoring is great. But Peer mentoring - if done the right way - can be a far more effective option (in the right context).
To have the support and guidance of someone you are closer within age, experience, or both is invaluable.
Consider the benefits of a peer mentoring relationship: would you be more comfortable confiding in a peer or a therapist/teacher/parent? Whose experiences would you relate to more? Who could speak to you in a way that would resonate with you?
Now think about the benefits for you or your child: When people come together to support and empower each other, they build strong teams and a solid culture. But how do you cultivate this experience in a hassle-free and efficient way?
Peer mentorship is the answer.
Once you have been on the job for some time and feel comfortable working on your own, your job coach will step back and let you work independently. Once independence has been achieved, the job coach will still visit you on the job site. This will allow the job coach, you, and your employer an opportunity to discuss and resolve any issues or changes regarding the job. Follow-Along is an important part of long-term job success.
Travel training is a program that aims to teach any person interested in navigating the Transit bus system. There is no cost to participate, and training is available for individuals and groups. Each training session is customized to the needs of the individual or group. Travel training sessions could include how to read a route map, buy a ticket, transfer to another bus, schedule an accessible van trip, use real-time bus tracking as well as plan and ride a route to a destination.
